Kaiama Local Government Area in Kwara State has been thrown into panic after suspected terrorists attacked a Police Mobile Force (PMF) camp in Tenebo community, killing at least three officers and injuring two others.

The attack occurred in the early hours of Saturday, around 1 a.m., when armed assailants reportedly stormed the area in large numbers and opened fire on officers stationed at the camp. Residents said the attackers overwhelmed security personnel before fleeing the scene.

A resident, Suleiman Issa, described the incident as chaotic, saying heavy gunfire forced villagers to abandon their homes.

The Kwara State Police Command confirmed the attack, with spokesperson Adetoun Ejire-Adeyemi noting that details were still being compiled.

The incident adds to a growing pattern of violent attacks in parts of Kaiama LGA, which has witnessed repeated assaults on security formations and nearby communities in recent months. Earlier incidents in the area included attacks that resulted in multiple deaths and the destruction of security infrastructure.

Security agencies are expected to intensify operations in the affected axis as investigations continue, and efforts begin to track the attackers.

"This represents a significant development in our ongoing coverage of current events."
