Tension in Kwara as Gunmen Attack Fulani Camp, Kidnap Two Residents

Fear has gripped residents of Isanlu Isin in Kwara State after gunmen attacked the Baba Ramo Fulani camp, kidnapping two people and injuring another during a late-night raid.

The incident reportedly occurred around 8:30 p.m. on Tuesday, when the attackers stormed the camp, firing shots into the air and creating panic. They abducted two men identified as Ibrahim Nuhu and Musa Umar, while another resident, Opeyemi Ibrahim, was shot in the thigh.

Opeyemi was quickly taken to Adeyemi Hospital in Omu-Aran for medical treatment.

According to a post shared by security analyst Zagazola Makama on Thursday via X (formerly Twitter), local hunters and vigilantes launched an immediate search operation in nearby bushes.

During the operation, they discovered:

Eight empty AK-47 bullet shells

A severed human thumb

A flashlight

A blue Bajaj motorcycle with plate number KMA 185 VD

Around 50 cows, believed to have been left behind by the fleeing attackers

Makama confirmed that all recovered items have been handed over to the police, and an investigation is ongoing to locate the kidnappers and rescue the victims.

The attack has heightened concerns over rural security in Kwara, with residents calling for stronger surveillance and swift government action to curb the rising spate of kidnappings in the region.

"This represents a significant development in our ongoing coverage of current events."
