GUNMEN ABDUCT FORMER PDP WARD CHAIRMAN, CATHOLIC PRIEST IN KWARA
Gunmen suspected to be kidnappers have abducted a former Ward Chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Boriya–Shiya Ward, Baruten Local Government Area of Kwara State, Abubakar Sise.
The abduction reportedly occurred in the early hours of Thursday.
When contacted on Friday afternoon, the State Commissioner of Police, Ojo Adekimi, said he had not yet been briefed about the incident but promised to investigate.
According to residents, the attack took place around midnight when the gunmen stormed the compound, firing several shots into the air to frighten the community.
One of Sise’s sons, who was returning home late at night, was said to have been stopped by the assailants. At gunpoint, he was forced to call his father. When Sise opened the door, the kidnappers gained access and took him away, leaving the rest of the family unharmed.
By dawn, spent bullet shells and a few live rounds were reportedly found scattered around the premises, indicating that multiple shots were fired to prevent resistance.
Residents described the operation as swift but frightening, lasting only a few minutes before the gunmen escaped.
The local vigilante group in Boriya has since launched a search of nearby areas in an attempt to trace the attackers and secure Sise’s release.
As of the time of this report, the victim’s whereabouts remain unknown.
