A political pressure group, Grassroots 121 Action, has inaugurated 5,000 polling-unit canvassers in Ekiti State as part of its campaign to mobilise at least 200,000 votes for Oyo State Governor and Allied Peoples Movement presidential candidate, Seyi Makinde, in the 2027 election.

The group’s convener, Lanre Fajuyi, disclosed this in Ado-Ekiti, saying the canvassers would coordinate grassroots mobilisation across the state’s 2,445 polling units.

Fajuyi said the group’s structure covered all 16 local government areas, with unit coordinators and their assistants expected to engage voters and identify community concerns.

She said the 200,000-vote target was part of a broader strategy to build a grassroots network ahead of the presidential election.

The group also criticised the economic policies of President Bola Tinubu’s administration, alleging that they had increased financial pressure on Nigerians.

Fajuyi said the group’s support for Makinde was part of a wider political discussion about the direction of the country ahead of the 2027 election.

The organisation said its campaign would also focus on voter education and political participation across Ekiti State.
