GRANIT XHAKA RETURNS TO PREMIER LEAGUE, JOINS SUNDERLAND ON THREE-YEAR DEAL
Granit Xhaka Seals Premier League Comeback With Sunderland Move
Former Arsenal midfielder Granit Xhaka is officially back in the Premier League after completing a surprise move to Sunderland from German side Bayer Leverkusen.
The 32-year-old Swiss international signed a three-year deal with the newly-promoted Premier League side. The total value of the transfer is reported to be £17.3 million, including an initial £13 million and up to £4.3 million in add-ons.
Speaking to Sunderland’s official website, Xhaka expressed excitement about the new chapter in his career.
“It’s exactly what I wanted, and I have a very good feeling,” he said. “We are back to where this club needs to be, and we want to stay here to write our own history.”
Xhaka, who was a key figure in Arsenal’s midfield for several seasons before moving to Germany, now brings his experience and leadership to a Sunderland side eager to make a strong impression in the top flight.
“I feel that I’m ready to help the team with my experience—but with quality as well,” he added. “We need to find ourselves on the pitch, but I don’t think this will be a big problem.”
Xhaka’s return has already excited fans who believe his presence could add much-needed stability and grit to Sunderland’s midfield. With the new season fast approaching, all eyes will be on the Swiss veteran as he takes on a new challenge in English football.
