GOVERNOR YUSUF APPROVES RECRUITMENT OF 4,315 TEACHERS IN KANO
The Kano State Government has formally absorbed 4,315 teachers into the state civil service.
Governor Abba Kabiru Yusuf said the decision reflects his administration’s commitment to reviving the standard of education across the state.
Speaking at the induction ceremony in Kano, the governor explained that the newly employed teachers had previously worked as interns but have now been offered permanent and pensionable appointments.
He stressed that the occasion was more than just a formality, describing it as evidence of his administration’s firm belief that education is the bedrock of progress and development.
Addressing the new teachers, Yusuf said: “We expect you to teach with passion, serve with integrity, and dedicate yourselves to shaping the character of our children.”
The governor also revealed that approval had been granted for the recruitment of an additional 2,616 qualified teachers through the State Universal Basic Education Board (SUBEB). According to him, this step will help maintain the required teacher–pupil ratio across schools and further raise the quality of education in the state.
Yusuf added that ongoing reforms in the sector include the construction of new schools, rehabilitation of existing ones, distribution of learning materials to all 44 local government areas, and the promotion of thousands of teachers.
