GOVERNOR NAMADI SIGNS LAW ESTABLISHING JIGAWA STATE HISBAH BOARD
Jigawa State Governor, Umar Namadi, has officially signed into law the Hisbah Board Establishment Bill, formally recognizing the Hisbah Board as a statutory body tasked with promoting moral discipline and social order across the state.
The signing follows the recent passage of the bill by the Jigawa State House of Assembly during a plenary session, aimed at strengthening the operational framework of the Hisbah Board.
Speaking at a brief ceremony held on Tuesday during the weekly State Executive Council meeting at the Government House in Dutse, Governor Namadi described the occasion as a significant milestone and the culmination of over eight months of legislative and administrative work.
“Today marks a pivotal moment as we sign into law the Hisbah Bill, officially establishing the Hisbah Board in Jigawa State,” the governor stated. “This process began close to eight months ago, and by the grace of Allah, we have successfully brought it to conclusion.”
Governor Namadi expressed optimism that the formal establishment of the board would help foster moral values, social justice, and improved community life across the state. He called on Hisbah officials to carry out their responsibilities with fairness, dedication, and the fear of God.
He also praised the members of the Hisbah Board Establishment Committee for their unwavering dedication and contributions toward the successful passage of the bill. “Their commitment and sacrifice played a vital role in achieving this milestone,” he noted.
With the bill now signed into law, the Hisbah Board is fully empowered to operate statewide in alignment with its mandate. Governor Namadi emphasized that this statutory backing will enhance the board’s capacity to deliver moral guidance, promote social harmony, and support community development.
“This law reflects our administration’s commitment to strengthening moral and social structures within our society,” the governor added. “The board’s role will be instrumental in shaping a more disciplined and values-driven state.”
He further highlighted that the Hisbah Board will now have the legal authority to function more efficiently, urging personnel to uphold the highest standards of integrity and fairness in their duties to ensure the board's positive impact on the state’s communities.
