GOVERNOR MAKINDE, WIFE HONOURED AS AARE OMOLUABI, YEYE AARE OMOLUABI OF AKURE KINGDOM
Governor of Oyo State, Seyi Makinde, and his wife, Mrs. Tamunominini Makinde, have been honoured with the traditional titles of Aare Omoluabi and Yeye Aare Omoluabi of Akure Kingdom.
The prestigious titles were conferred on the couple by the Deji of Akure, Oba (Dr.) Aladetoyinbo Ogunlade Aladelusi, during a ceremony held in Akure on Friday.
Speaking at the event, Governor Makinde described the recognition as a call to further contribute to the development of Akure Kingdom. He also congratulated the monarch on the 10th anniversary of his ascension to the throne.
Expressing gratitude, Makinde pledged to support key projects in the kingdom, including the completion of the Akure Town Hall and the modernisation of the Akure Palace.
“For my wife and me, this honour is deeply appreciated. We assure you that we will continue to give our best towards the growth of Akure Kingdom,” he said.
“There's a saying that a prophet is not honoured in his homeland, but today, Akure Kingdom has honoured one of its own. I am grateful. I first visited here in 1977 when I was just 10 years old. Today’s honour confirms my roots and renews my commitment to the progress of our people.”
Makinde also acknowledged his mother, Mrs. Victoria Modupe Alo, for attending the event, stating her presence was especially meaningful.
The chieftaincy ceremony, held as part of the Deji’s 10th coronation anniversary, drew dignitaries from Oyo State and various parts of the country.
