Governor Agbu Kefas has restated his administration’s resolve to fully develop the vast solid mineral resources in Taraba State.

The governor made this known on Monday while declaring open the Stakeholders’ Engagement and Validation Workshop on Mining Sector Roadmap Development held in Jalingo, the state capital.

Represented by the Secretary to the State Government, Barrister Gebon Kataps, Kefas emphasised the need for stronger collaboration among government agencies, private investors, host communities, and industry professionals to ensure environmentally responsible and sustainable mining operations.

He encouraged participants to contribute meaningfully to the creation of a practical, comprehensive, and investor-friendly roadmap that would serve as a guiding framework for the sector’s development.

Kefas noted that a well-structured and transparent mining system would attract credible investments, generate employment, increase internally generated revenue, and drive economic growth across local communities.

He added that Taraba is richly endowed with solid minerals, stressing that effective regulation, transparency, and strict adherence to sustainable practices remain key pillars of his administration’s vision for the mining sector.

Describing the validation workshop as a crucial step, the governor said it would help reposition Taraba as a leading mining destination in Nigeria.

The workshop is expected to produce a validated roadmap that will guide policy direction, enhance value chain development, and strengthen Taraba’s competitiveness within Nigeria’s mining industry.

The government reaffirmed that monitoring and enforcement operations would continue across the state to ensure compliance with environmental regulations and deter practices that compromise sanitation efforts. Residents were urged to support these initiatives by adopting proper waste disposal habits, as collaboration between the government and the public remains vital to keeping Lagos clean and habitable.
