Governor Alia Sends First Batch of Commissioner Nominees to Benue Assembly
Benue State Governor, Rev. Fr. Hyacinth Iormem Alia, has submitted the first list of commissioner-nominees to the State House of Assembly for screening and confirmation, marking a major step toward rebuilding his executive team.
The announcement was made on Friday by the governor’s spokesperson, Tersoo Kula, who described the move as part of ongoing efforts to strengthen governance and improve service delivery across the state.
“This development marks a significant step in enhancing the machinery of governance and ensuring effective service delivery across various sectors,” the statement read.
The list includes a mix of experienced professionals and returning political figures, including:
Hon. Theresa Odachi Ikwue
Hon. Dr. Benjamin Ashaver
Hon. Dr. Adamu Margaret Ijaguwa
Hon. Dr. Peter Oboh Egbodo
Dr. Yangien Timothy Ornguga
Hon. Denis Iyaighgba
Hon. James Dwem
Dr. Paul Ejeh Ogwuche
Governor Alia had earlier dissolved the previous State Executive Council on Wednesday, retaining only the Chief of Staff position, now occupied by Barr. Moses Atagher, the former Attorney General and Commissioner for Justice.
According to Kula, the second batch of nominees is expected to be submitted in the coming days.
The appointments are part of Governor Alia’s broader administrative restructuring to deliver more effective governance and meet the expectations of Benue residents. The House of Assembly will now commence the screening process, setting the stage for a refreshed cabinet in the state.
