GOV MBAH MOURNS ARISE NEWS STAFF SOMTOCHUKWU MADUAGWU, CALLS FOR JUSTICE
Governor of Enugu State, Dr. Peter Mbah, has expressed deep sorrow over the death of Arise News anchor, producer, and reporter, Somtochukwu Christelle Maduagwu.
Maduagwu tragically lost her life after an armed robbery attack at her residence in Katampe District, Abuja.
In his reaction, Governor Mbah described her passing as a devastating loss, not only to Arise News but also to the entire Nigerian media landscape.
Condemning the killing on Monday, he extended his condolences to her family, colleagues at Arise News, and the wider media community, while urging security agencies to spare no effort in ensuring the perpetrators are brought to justice.
“I received with shock and a deep sense of loss the news of Somtochukwu’s tragic death. This is highly condemnable. It is reprehensible and cowardly.
“At 29, she had already carved a niche for herself in the nation’s media space. She was a consummate professional who lit up millions of screens with her excellent delivery.
“Indeed, a shining light has been extinguished too soon, a budding superstar cut down. I call on the security agencies to do everything within their powers to track down her killers and bring them to book,” he said.
The governor prayed for the peaceful repose of her soul and comfort for her family, the Arise News team, and the Nigerian media industry at large.
