Benue State has a new Speaker! Hon. Alfred Emberga, who represents Makurdi North State Constituency, has been elected as the new Speaker of the 10th Benue State House of Assembly. His election took place on Sunday during an emergency sitting following the voluntary resignation of Rt. Hon. Hyacinth Dajoh.

Governor Hyacinth Alia has warmly congratulated Emberga on his emergence, describing the development as a reflection of the trust and confidence his fellow lawmakers have in him.

In a statement issued by his Chief Press Secretary, Tersoo Kula, the Governor praised the seamless transition process. He expressed optimism that Emberga’s leadership will strengthen the Assembly’s role in shaping policies that directly improve the lives of Benue people.

The Governor further encouraged the legislature to maintain a strong working relationship with the executive and judiciary arms of government. According to him, only through teamwork and cooperation can the state achieve lasting progress and deliver true dividends of democracy to its citizens.

Governor Alia also took time to appreciate the outgoing Speaker, Rt. Hon. Aondona Dajoh, for his service and contributions to the Assembly, while pledging his continued support to Emberga and other lawmakers for the collective good of Benue State.

With Emberga now at the helm of the Assembly, expectations are high that the legislature will continue to drive policies that foster development and unity across the state.
