Abia State Governor, Alex Otti, has praised Enyimba Football Club of Aba after their thrilling 3-2 victory against Bendel Insurance in the Nigeria Premier Football League (NPFL) on Sunday.

The People’s Elephants twice came from behind before sealing the win in front of a packed Aba crowd that included Governor Otti and members of his cabinet.

Bendel Insurance shocked the home side with an early second-minute goal, but Enyimba responded in the 18th minute through Abiodun Joseph. Insurance regained the lead in the 59th minute, only for Kalu Nweke to equalize from the penalty spot in the 66th minute. Just three minutes later, Chidera Michael’s decisive strike in the 69th minute sealed all three points for Enyimba.

The win takes Enyimba to the top of the NPFL table with 11 points from five matches.

Governor Otti, reacting on X (formerly Twitter), applauded the resilience and fighting spirit of the players, while commending fans, the coaching crew, and Enyimba chairman, Kanu Nwankwo, for their support and leadership.

He described the victory as a reflection of the “can-do spirit” of the Abia people, noting that unity and belief remain keys to greatness.

"This represents a significant development in our ongoing coverage of current events."
