Renowned gospel singer Lilian Nneji has been awarded honorary citizenship by the State of Georgia, USA, in recognition of her significant contributions to gospel music and her role as a cultural ambassador.

The honorary certificate, signed by Georgia's Secretary of State, Brad Raffensperger, was formally presented to Nneji during her recent "Lilian Nneji Live in Concert" event held in Lagos.

In the proclamation, Raffensperger stated: “I, Brad Raffensperger, the Secretary of State for the State of Georgia, do hereby proclaim Nneji Lilian Nneka as an Honorary Georgia Citizen.” He further added: “May this outstanding citizen be afforded every courtesy as a goodwill ambassador from Georgia in her travels to other states, nations beyond the borders of the United States of America, or wherever she may hereafter travel or reside. Thank you for your service to our State.”

Reacting to the honour, Nneji expressed heartfelt gratitude, quoting Proverbs 22:29: “Seest thou a man diligent in his business? He shall stand before kings; he shall not stand before mean men.” She remarked, “God has honoured me. I am simply grateful to God for releasing His grace and mercy upon me.”

She described the recognition as a sign of greater things to come: “This is proof that God’s blessings have only just begun. I believe more doors will open for me as I continue serving Him through music.”

The concert also served as an occasion for Nneji to appreciate her band members for their unwavering commitment. She surprised them with generous cash gifts — some receiving ₦3 million, others ₦2 million and ₦1 million — in recognition of their loyalty and support.

The event attracted a large turnout of gospel ministers, musicians, and worshippers who gathered to honour Nneji and celebrate God through soul-lifting music.

In a closing message of appreciation, Mrs. Nneji thanked everyone who attended and supported her, describing their presence as both a blessing and a source of motivation for her continued mission in gospel ministry.
