GIVE KIDNAPPERS MY NUMBER, OYEDEPO TELLS MEMBERS TO CALL HIM IF ABDUCTED
The Founder of Living Faith Church Worldwide, Bishop David Oyedepo, has told members of his church to give abductors his phone number if they are kidnapped.
Oyedepo said he possesses the spiritual authority to secure their release.
He made the statement during a church service at the Canaanland headquarters of the church in Ota, Ogun State.
A video clip of the sermon went viral on Thursday.
“If anybody picks you, give them my number, give them my number,” he said.
The cleric supported the statement with two testimonies he described as divine intervention in previous kidnapping incidents involving church members.
In the first account, he said one of the church pastors was kidnapped, and the abductors handed the phone to him.
According to Oyedepo, he warned the kidnappers that they would die within 24 hours if the pastor was not released.
“One time, one of our pastors was carried by kidnappers.
“I said, give them the phone. I said, in 24 hours, if you don’t take him out, you are dead.
“The place was vibrating. On the spot,” he said.
In another account, he said a female church member was abducted but declared in faith that she would regain freedom by 7 a.m.
He said the kidnappers did not receive any call from him, but began injuring themselves before eventually releasing her.
“She said, my father said, I’m getting out of here by 7 a.m. They didn’t call. They started cutting themselves,” he said.
Oyedepo told worshippers that they also carry spiritual authority and only need to recognise and use it.
“You have been raised far above the devil. If the church does not conquer these devils, God has left heaven,” he added.
The sermon clip was shared under the hashtag #SupersonicSunday by church social media platforms before spreading widely online.
