GHANA DEPORTS 42 NIGERIANS OVER PROSTITUTION, FRAUD
At least 42 Nigerians have been deported from Ghana’s Ashanti Region following court rulings involving prostitution, fraud, and related offences. The announcement was made on December 18, 2025, by Ashanti Regional Minister Frank Amoakohene.
Other foreign nationals affected include 13 Cameroonians, three Ivorians, three Burkinabe, and seven from Benin, bringing the total to 68 African nationals. Amoakohene commended the Ghana Immigration Service for enforcing immigration laws while upholding due process and human dignity, noting the importance of collaboration with courts and security agencies to maintain public safety.
This action reflects a broader trend of increased scrutiny of Nigerians abroad. In late November, 50 Nigerians were arrested in India during coordinated raids targeting a transnational narcotics and hawala money-laundering network operating in major cities, according to NDTV.
The Ghana deportation and similar incidents underscore the growing focus of international authorities on criminal activities involving foreign nationals and highlight the need for compliance with host country laws.
