GERMANY DID NOT REJECT MY AMBASSADORIAL NOMINATION, SAYS FANI-KAYODE
Former Minister of Aviation, Femi Fani-Kayode, has dismissed reports claiming that the German government rejected his ambassadorial nomination.
The report, published by Peoples Gazette, alleged that his posting was declined over past controversial statements and concerns about his conduct. It also claimed that authorities in Germany raised issues regarding his alleged ethnocentric and religious remarks.
However, Fani-Kayode described the claims as false, insisting that they were fabricated to discredit him.
In a post on his official X handle, he accused opposition figures of being behind the report, alleging that they were unhappy with his nomination.
“Fake news everywhere. These opposition elements are so pained by my appointment, and they are doing everything to discredit me and scuttle it,” he said.
Fani-Kayode maintained that he remains committed to serving Nigeria, regardless of what he described as attempts to undermine his appointment, which was approved by President Bola Tinubu.
The controversy follows earlier reports suggesting he could be redeployed to another country, though no official confirmation has been made.
