GERMAN EMBASSY WARNS NIGERIANS AGAINST USING VISA AGENTS

The German Embassy in Nigeria has cautioned Nigerians applying for German visas against relying on unauthorised agents or third parties, stressing that applicants should follow the official visa application process. The warning comes amid concerns over individuals who claim to offer special assistance with visa appointments and applications.

The embassy clarified that it does not cooperate with agencies or third parties that offer visa appointment bookings for a fee. It also stated that booking an appointment through the official process is free, making payments to intermediaries unnecessary.

The German authorities further warned applicants about submitting false or forged documents. According to the embassy, visa applications containing forged documents or false information can be rejected immediately, with applicants potentially placed in a warning database and facing a Schengen-wide entry ban.

Applicants have therefore been advised to obtain visa information directly from the German Missions in Nigeria and to ensure that all documents submitted are genuine and accurate. The German Embassy and Consulate General in Nigeria provide official information on visa requirements and procedures through their consular services.

The warning is particularly important for Nigerians planning to travel to Germany for tourism, study, work or other purposes, as dependence on unofficial agents could expose applicants to financial losses, fraudulent documentation or problems with future visa applications. The embassy's position reinforces the need for applicants to use only authorised channels throughout the visa process.
