The Government College Ibadan Old Boys Association and ipNX Nigeria Limited have partnered to provide campus-wide broadband internet access to more than 2,250 students and staff of Government College Ibadan.

The project includes a fibre backbone connecting 29 buildings and enterprise-grade wireless connectivity within each building. The infrastructure is expected to support teaching, learning, research and school administration.

The initiative is being led by the GCIOBA North America branch under ipNX’s corporate social responsibility programme, which seeks to provide free broadband access to public secondary schools within the company’s network coverage.

President of GCIOBA, Olawale Babalakin, said the partnership was part of the association’s efforts to equip students with the tools and learning environment needed to compete globally.

Group Managing Director of ipNX, Ejovi Aror, said digital infrastructure had become an important part of modern education and described the project as a long-term investment in Nigeria’s future.

He said the connectivity would create opportunities for innovation, collaboration and improved learning outcomes.

The project was highlighted during the 2026 GCIOBA Lagos Branch Annual Luncheon, where the association also honoured two deceased alumni, Dr Burian Carew and Dr Blackie Aror, for their contributions to Nigeria’s technology and education sectors.
