GALAXY BACKBONE WOOS BANKS AFTER CBN DIRECTIVE
Galaxy Backbone Plc has intensified engagement with commercial banks following the Central Bank of Nigeria’s (CBN) directive on the use of local infrastructure for critical financial services.
The government-owned ICT company is positioning itself as a reliable partner for secure data hosting, connectivity, and digital services as banks seek to comply with the new policy. Galaxy Backbone Managing Director, Mr. Mohammed Abubakar, emphasised the company’s robust infrastructure and compliance with international standards. “We are ready to support banks in achieving seamless and secure operations while meeting regulatory requirements,” he said.
The CBN directive is part of broader efforts to strengthen data sovereignty and reduce reliance on foreign service providers for sensitive financial transactions.
Several banks have already begun discussions with Galaxy Backbone to explore partnership opportunities in cloud services, disaster recovery, and secure connectivity.
The move is expected to enhance local capacity and contribute to the development of Nigeria’s digital economy.
