Football commentator Serhat Akın has issued a strong warning to Galatasaray striker Mauro Icardi, urging him to raise his performance levels amid the growing influence of teammate Victor Osimhen.

Akın believes Osimhen’s outstanding displays have set a new standard at the Turkish club, and Icardi risks losing the affection of the fans if he doesn’t respond quickly.

“There’s a game between Osimhen and Icardi. These two games are very different,” Akın said, as quoted by Habersarikirmizi. “Osimhen is a fantastic centre-forward. He takes things to a whole new level. If Icardi doesn’t get his act together quickly, I think this love will end, like all loves.”

He further warned that the admiration Galatasaray fans and young supporters in Türkiye have for Icardi could fade if his performances dip any further. “Galatasaray fans love him, and the kids in Türkiye loved him, but this love could end too,” Akın added.

Both Icardi and Osimhen have impressed in Galatasaray colours this season, but Akın’s comments highlight the growing internal competition between the two prolific forwards. With Osimhen setting the pace, Icardi may need to rediscover his top form to retain his star status at the club.

"This represents a significant development in our ongoing coverage of current events."
