FURY BREAKS SILENCE ON RETIREMENT AFTER JOSHUA FIGHT
Former heavyweight world champion Tyson Fury has ruled out retiring after his highly anticipated showdown with fellow British boxer Anthony Joshua, insisting that he intends to continue fighting beyond their December 11 encounter.
The blockbuster contest is scheduled to take place at the Principality Stadium in Cardiff, Wales, bringing together two of Britain’s biggest boxing stars after years of speculation about a potential clash.
Fury, who has announced his retirement several times during his career, said he has no intention of making the Joshua fight his final appearance in the ring. The 38-year-old revealed that he has two fights remaining on his current contract and could sign a new 10-fight deal afterwards if the financial terms are attractive.
The former world champion said his advancing age means he would need to remain active if he decides to continue competing professionally.
Fury also identified a potential trilogy fight against Ukrainian heavyweight Oleksandr Usyk as one of his major ambitions. He lost twice to Usyk in their previous encounters and remains determined to secure another opportunity to face him.
The upcoming fight against Joshua is widely regarded as one of the biggest heavyweight contests in British boxing history. Both fighters have held world titles, but their long-awaited meeting has been delayed several times over the years.
Fury has dismissed suggestions that the bout could mark the end of his career, instead presenting Joshua as an opponent he must overcome before pursuing further challenges.
Joshua, meanwhile, is expected to enter the contest seeking a statement victory against his long-time rival.
The December showdown is attracting considerable attention from boxing fans, with the outcome likely to influence the future direction of both fighters’ careers. Fury’s latest comments suggest that, regardless of the result, he is not yet ready to walk away from professional boxing.
