The Vice-Chancellor of the Federal University Oye Ekiti (FUOYE), Prof. Abayomi Fasina, has encouraged newly admitted students to lay a strong foundation for their lives through their decisions and actions.

Prof. Fasina emphasized that a solid foundation is key to stability and success, highlighting honesty, integrity, curiosity, love for learning, and resilience as essential values. He noted, “Challenges are inevitable, but with resilience, you can overcome them and achieve great heights in life.”

According to a statement from the university’s Public Relations Officer, Foluso Ogunmodede, the Vice-Chancellor delivered this message at the matriculation ceremony in Oye Ekiti, welcoming 11,327 fresh students. The ceremonies were also held at the university’s Ikole Ekiti campus.

In his address, titled ‘Building a House on the Solid Rock’, Fasina told students, “A house built on a solid rock will stand strong, while one built on the ground will collapse. Let integrity guide your actions and choices.”

Describing the matriculation ceremony as a covenant with the university, he stressed the importance of active participation in campus life. “The university is more than lectures and exams. Engage in volunteering, serve in various capacities, and strive to grow wiser each day,” he said.

Prof. Fasina congratulated the students on their admission and urged them to positively represent the institution. “We all know the progress the university has made and its current status,” he added, expressing gratitude for the achievements under his leadership. “The journey has been smooth, to the glory of God. I have learned much and placed my trust in Him.”

The new students took the matriculation oath, formally joining the university community and committing to uphold its standards of conduct.

Dignitaries at the event included the Deputy Vice-Chancellor (Administration), Prof. Tajudeen Opoola; the Registrar, Mr. Mufutau Ibrahim; the Bursar, Dr. Adebolanle Debo-Ajagunna; the University Librarian, Dr. Olabode Olajide; deans of faculties, staff, students, parents, and other well-wishers.

"This represents a significant development in our ongoing coverage of current events."
