‘FUNKE AKINDELE IS MY NUMBER ONE MENTOR’ – BBNAIJA WINNER, IMISI, OPENS UP ON HER NOLLYWOOD DREAMS
Winner of Big Brother Naija Season 10, Opeyemi Ayanwale, popularly known as Imisi, has revealed that she draws major inspiration from award-winning filmmaker and actress Funke Akindele, describing her as her number one mentor.
The 23-year-old reality TV star made the revelation while speaking with journalists after receiving her ₦150 million grand prize and a brand-new SUV at the official prize presentation ceremony in Lagos on Tuesday.
Imisi, who captured viewers’ hearts with her expressive personality and natural acting talent during her time in the BBNaija house, said the show reignited her passion for film and storytelling.
“I think people saw a lot of my acting side while I was in the house. Even my fellow housemates said I’m a natural actress. I’m ready to do more,” she said.
Expressing her admiration for Funke Akindele, Imisi added:
“Funke Akindele is my number one mentor. I really hope to work with her one day. I also admire Bimbo Ademoye and Bolaji Ogunmola — they inspire me a lot.”
Speaking on her victory, Imisi described the moment as overwhelming, admitting that she’s still coming to terms with the massive love and support she has received nationwide.
When asked about speculations that ethnic support influenced her win, she responded candidly:
“Maybe. Yoruba people are very supportive of their own, so that might’ve played a role. But honestly, I believe people connected with my realness and vulnerability.”
The young star also expressed deep appreciation to her Celestial Church community for their prayers and encouragement during her BBNaija journey, noting that she plans to use her fame to build a strong career in the entertainment industry.
“Fame is new to me, but I’m ready to learn and grow. I’ll seek mentorship and be intentional about my next steps,” she concluded.
