FUNKE AKINDELE CONFIRMS SHE MUST BE OBEYED SEASON TWO IS IN THE WORKS

Nollywood actress and filmmaker Funke Akindele has confirmed that work is underway on the second season of her popular drama series, She Must Be Obeyed, giving fans who have been waiting for a continuation of the story a reason to expect its return. The confirmation came after a fan, identified as Aku Oma, expressed frustration on X over the long wait for another season while reacting to one of Akindele’s posts. The fan jokingly suggested that she might have to grow much older before the next instalment arrives.

Responding to the comment, Akindele used laughing emojis before giving a brief assurance that preparations for the new season had already begun. The actress said, “We are working on it,” a response that quickly generated renewed interest among viewers who have followed the series since its debut. Although the statement confirms that the project is being worked on, Akindele did not provide details about when production would be completed or when the second season would be released.

She Must Be Obeyed premiered on Prime Video in September 2023 as a five-part series focused on the competitive and complicated world of the Nigerian music industry. The drama centres on Siyanbola Adewale, popularly known by her stage name, SHE, an established Afrobeats star determined to maintain her position at the top. Her pursuit of success exposes her to rivalry, manipulation, personal conflicts and difficult relationships as she struggles to protect her career and public image.

Akindele played the lead role in the series and also served as one of its directors alongside Abdulrasheed Bello, popularly known as JJC Skillz. The production featured several prominent Nigerian entertainers, including Waje, Veeiye, Nancy Isime, Lateef Adedimeji, Akah Nnani, Mike Ezuruonye, Rachael Okonkwo, Patience Ozokwo, IK Ogbonna and Ali Nuhu. The storyline explored issues surrounding fame, ambition, betrayal, rivalry and the struggle for control within the entertainment industry.
