Fresh details have emerged regarding the demands allegedly made by the abductors holding dozens of pupils and teachers kidnapped from schools in Oriire Local Government Area of Oyo State.

According to reports, the kidnappers are demanding:

  • ₦1 billion ransom
  • Implementation of Sharia law in Oyo State
  • Two Hilux vehicles
  • Food supplies
  • Release of suspects allegedly linked to their network and currently in custody
  • Payment of the ransom into a bank account in the Republic of Benin

The reported demands mark a significant shift from a purely financial ransom request to broader ideological and political conditions, raising concerns among security analysts and government officials.

The abduction occurred on May 15, when armed men attacked schools in Yawota and Ahoro-Esiele communities, kidnapping dozens of pupils and teachers. Security agencies have since launched rescue operations, while authorities continue efforts to secure the victims' release.
