FUBARA TOLD TO DISMISS IBAS’S APPOINTEES, SEEK TINUBU’S PROTECTION

A chieftain of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Eze Chukwuemeka Eze, has advised Governor Siminalayi Fubara to immediately dismiss all appointees installed by the Sole Administrator during his absence.

Governor Fubara returned to the Rivers State Government House on Friday after serving a six-month suspension ordered by President Bola Tinubu, a decision that had drawn widespread criticism at the time. His return came just a day after the Sole Administrator vacated office.

Within that six-month period, Ibok-Ette Ibas, who acted as Sole Administrator, made a series of appointments. Eze, a former National Publicity Secretary of the now defunct New People’s Democratic Party (nPDP), insisted that Fubara should not retain those individuals in his administration.

According to him, the Governor must assert his independence and ensure that “no one imposes commissioners or aides on him,” stressing that even Nyesom Wike had given assurances not to interfere in that manner.

Eze further recommended that for stability in the state, members of the Rivers State House of Assembly who either resigned or stood by Governor Fubara should be reinstated.

He also called on President Tinubu to provide guarantees of protection for the Governor against any potential impeachment moves by lawmakers, warning that if such assurances are not given, Fubara should fully exercise his constitutional powers as Executive Governor.

"This represents a significant development in our ongoing coverage of current events."
