FSL LAUNCHES COMMODITY FUND TO BOOST AGRIC INVESTMENT
FSL Securities has launched a new commodity fund aimed at increasing investment in Nigeria’s agricultural sector and providing investors with access to opportunities within the commodities market.
The fund is expected to support investment across the agricultural value chain while providing a structured avenue for investors to participate in the sector’s growth.
FSL said the initiative would help mobilise private capital into agriculture, particularly in areas such as production, processing, storage, and distribution.
Agricultural stakeholders said increased investment is needed to address challenges affecting Nigeria’s food supply chain, including inadequate storage, limited financing, poor infrastructure, and low access to modern farming equipment.
They noted that commodity-focused investment products could help connect investors with opportunities in agriculture while providing farmers and businesses with access to additional capital.
Financial analysts said the fund could also contribute to the development of Nigeria’s commodities market by encouraging more formal investment and improving transparency.
They urged investors to understand the risks associated with commodity markets, including price fluctuations, weather conditions, supply disruptions, and changes in government policies.
FSL said the fund was designed to provide investors with an opportunity to diversify their portfolios while supporting productive activities within Nigeria’s agricultural economy.
Stakeholders called for stronger collaboration among financial institutions, commodity exchanges, farmers, processors, and government agencies to maximise the impact of such investment initiatives.
They said increased funding for agriculture could improve productivity, create jobs, strengthen food security, and reduce Nigeria’s dependence on imported food products.
FSL reaffirmed its commitment to developing investment solutions that support economic growth and expand opportunities within Nigeria’s capital and commodities markets.
The launch of the commodity fund adds to efforts to attract private investment into agriculture and strengthen the financial infrastructure supporting Nigeria’s agricultural value chain.
