FRSC URGES MOTORISTS TO REDUCE SPEED DURING RAINY SEASON
The Federal Road Safety Corps in Ogun State has advised motorists to reduce speed and drive carefully during the rainy season to prevent avoidable road crashes.
The Ogun Sector Commander, Oludare Ogunjobi, said wet roads become slippery during rainfall, making it harder for drivers to control vehicles at high speed.
He urged motorists to keep double or triple the normal distance from the vehicle ahead to allow enough braking time.
Drivers were also advised to inspect tyres, brakes, headlamps, indicators, and windscreen wipers before travelling.
According to FRSC, motorists should avoid flood-prone roads and never attempt to drive through running water or heavily flooded areas.
Where visibility becomes poor due to heavy rain, drivers were encouraged to park safely off the road and wait until conditions improve.
The warning follows rainfall predictions indicating that Ogun State may experience an extended rainy season with possible flash flooding.
