Panic has gripped the Papiri community in Agwara Local Government Area of Niger State after terrorists launched another attack on a school, abducting several students and staff of St. Mary’s Catholic School.

The exact number of those kidnapped is still unclear, as school officials are reportedly compiling the full list of missing persons. A source who spoke with Daily Trust confirmed the attack but explained that only the church would release an official statement later in the day.

Efforts to reach the Niger State Police Command were unsuccessful at the time of this report, as the command’s spokesperson, SP Wasiu Abiodun, could not be reached for comments.

This latest attack comes just days after a similar incident in Kebbi State, where terrorists invaded a government school and abducted at least 25 students. The back-to-back assaults have heightened fears about escalating insecurity in northern Nigeria, especially in learning institutions.

Communities across the region are calling for urgent government action to protect schools and ensure the safe return of all abducted students.

"This represents a significant development in our ongoing coverage of current events."
