FOUR DEAD AS VEHICLE PLUNGES INTO OGUN RIVER
Tragedy struck along the Ijebu-Ode–Sagamu Expressway on Sunday when a vehicle carrying six passengers plunged into the Ososa River, leaving four people dead.
According to Babatunde Akinbiyi, spokesperson for the Ogun State Traffic Compliance and Enforcement Agency (TRACE), the incident involved a white Toyota Hilux that lost control around 12 a.m. and veered into the river.
“Emergency responders, including TRACE, the police, and the Federal Road Safety Corps, upon arrival at the scene, recovered four male adults dead,” Akinbiyi said.
The cause of the crash was attributed to excessive speed, highlighting ongoing concerns about road safety along major highways in Ogun State.
Authorities have yet to identify the victims, and investigations are ongoing to determine if more factors contributed to the accident.
The incident serves as a grim reminder of the importance of road safety compliance and cautious driving, especially on busy expressways.
