FOUR DEAD AS 18-SEATER BUS COLLIDES WITH STATIONARY TRUCK IN KOGI
At least four people were killed and eleven others injured on Sunday when an 18-seater commercial bus collided with a stationary truck on the Lokoja-Ajaokuta road in Kogi State.
The Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC) in Kogi confirmed the accident. Sector Commander Tenimu Etuku reported that the bus, registered as ABC 232 XA, was traveling from Enugu to Abuja when the driver, in an effort to avoid a head-on collision with an oncoming truck, crashed into the parked vehicle at Jimgbe Community in Ajaokuta Local Government Area.
“The injured were quickly rescued by FRSC personnel and taken to Kogi State Specialist Hospital for treatment, while the four deceased were taken to the hospital morgue,” Etuku stated.
Describing the incident as unfortunate, the FRSC commander urged motorists to remain vigilant at all times and emphasized the difference between a "free" motoring environment and a "safe" one.
