The Kebbi State Police Command has arrested four men accused of vandalising a transformer at Government Girls Secondary School, Bunza, in Bunza Local Government Area.

The suspects, identified as Sanusi Muhammad and Ibrahim Lawal from Sokoto State, alongside Tasi’u Abubakar and Tasi’u Abdullahi from Zamfara State, were apprehended following a swift operation by the Divisional Police Officer in Bunza, working with local vigilante groups.

Police spokesperson, CSP Nafiu Abubakar, confirmed the development on Saturday, stating that the suspects stormed the school premises around 3 a.m. on September 10, restrained the watchman, and dismantled the transformer with chainsaws and other equipment.

He disclosed that a black Toyota Corolla, bearing registration number KNT-359-SN, allegedly used in the operation, was recovered along with the vandalised armoured cables and tools. Two of the suspects were caught on the spot, while further investigation by the State CID in Birnin Kebbi led to the arrest of the others.

The four men are in custody and will be prosecuted, the police said.

Commissioner of Police, CP Bello M. Sani, commended the swift response of the Bunza DPO and local vigilantes, describing it as a good example of effective collaboration between the police and the community. He assured residents that the Command remains committed to tackling crime across Kebbi State.

"This represents a significant development in our ongoing coverage of current events."
