Veteran Nollywood actress Foluke Daramola has officially taken another step into politics after obtaining her nomination and expression of interest forms to contest for a seat in the House of Representatives ahead of the 2027 general elections.

The actress, who had earlier announced her intention to represent Oshodi-Isolo Federal Constituency 1, shared photos of herself holding the forms in a post published on Facebook, signaling the formal beginning of her political ambition.

In her message to supporters and residents of the constituency, Daramola emphasized her desire to serve the people and push for policies that would improve the welfare of workers and ordinary Nigerians.

She also urged residents to remain focused on their goals and aspirations while expressing optimism about the future of Oshodi-Isolo.

“As your servant and potential aspirant for the House of Representatives, Oshodi-Isolo Federal Constituency 1, I, Hon. Foluke Daramola-Salako, lift you up in prayers: May Almighty God open doors of opportunities for us all and keep us safe. Together, we will build a stronger, better Oshodi,” she wrote.

Her political move adds to the growing wave of Nigerian entertainers venturing into active politics ahead of the 2027 elections.

In recent weeks, celebrity figures across the entertainment industry have increasingly shown interest in public office, blending fame, influence, and grassroots popularity with political ambition.

Socialite Cubana Chief Priest was recently linked with a move to contest for the Orsu/Orlu/Oru East Federal Constituency seat in Imo State under the All Progressives Congress, while actor Zubby Michael has also reportedly expressed interest in a House of Representatives seat under the African Democratic Congress.

For many observers, the growing participation of entertainers in Nigerian politics reflects a changing political culture where public figures with strong fan bases are increasingly seeking direct influence in governance and policymaking.

Daramola, who began her acting career in 1998, remains one of Nollywood’s recognizable faces, having featured in numerous films over the years while also building a reputation for social advocacy and humanitarian causes.
