Police operatives in Jigawa State have arrested five suspected drug dealers and recovered 2,188 assorted illicit substances during coordinated operations across the state.

The command’s spokesperson, SP Lawan Shiisu Adam, confirmed the arrests in a statement released to journalists on Saturday.

According to him, the suspects were apprehended in Gumel, Maigatari, Sara, and Gujungu towns as part of the command’s sustained efforts to combat drug abuse and trafficking.

“As part of the command’s ongoing fight against drug-related crimes, coordinated operations were carried out in Gumel, Maigatari, Sara, and Gujungu towns, leading to the arrest of five suspects,” the statement said.

Those arrested were identified as Sadik Yahaya, Musa Isiyaku, Dauda Yakubu, Auwalu Lado, and Habibu Abdullahi.

SP Adam disclosed that exhibits recovered from the suspects included two wraps of cannabis sativa and 2,188 assorted illicit drugs.

The Commissioner of Police in Jigawa State, CP Dahiru Muhammad, commended the officers involved for their professionalism and dedication. He reaffirmed the command’s commitment to ensuring the safety and security of lives and property across the state.

The police chief also appealed to members of the public to continue supporting the command by providing timely and credible information to aid crime prevention and detection.

He added that all the suspects would be charged to court upon the conclusion of investigations.
