Federal Ministry of Works gives strong assurances that the vital transportation link connecting Anambra and Delta states will welcome motorists again following extensive structural remediation

The Federal Ministry of Works has announced that the First Niger Bridge linking Anambra and Delta states is set to be reopened to traffic before the end of the week, barring any unforeseen operational or weather-related delays.

Federal controllers handling the project confirmed that major construction activities, including the replacement of vandalized bridge components and the installation of specialized structural expansion joints, have reached advanced completion.

The critical infrastructure had earlier undergone a temporary closure to allow engineering teams to execute comprehensive repairs, replace stolen bridge bolts, and restore safety features along the crucial corridor.

While minor finishing touches, such as securing solar-powered lighting infrastructure, are being finalized, authorities noted that all necessary arrangements to guarantee a seamless traffic flow have been put in place.

The impending reopening brings significant relief to commercial drivers, commuters, and traders who have relied on alternative routes since the maintenance work commenced, easing transit bottlenecks between the South-East and South-South regions.
