The First Lady, Senator Oluremi Tinubu, has called on Nigerians to take environmental protection and cleanliness seriously, describing it as a shared responsibility for all.

She made the call in Abuja on Monday in a message to mark the International Day of Clean Energy 2026, celebrated under the theme “Clean Energy for People and Planet.”

According to her, the day serves as an important reminder of the collective duty of citizens to protect and preserve the environment for present and future generations.

“I urge us all to embrace renewable energy and sustainable technologies as an essential foundation for survival, healthy living, and environmental stewardship,” she said.

“Let us work together to build a greener, healthier planet for all.”

The First Lady also wished Nigerians a happy International Day of Clean Energy.

The News Agency of Nigeria reports that the International Day of Clean Energy is observed annually on January 26, following its declaration by the United Nations General Assembly through resolution A/77/327.

The observance aims to raise global awareness and mobilise action towards a just, inclusive transition to clean energy for the benefit of people and the planet.

"This represents a significant development in our ongoing coverage of current events."
