Adamawa Governor Fintiri Boosts NYSC Allowance, Pledges More Support for Corps Members

Corps members serving in Adamawa State have received a major boost as Governor Ahmadu Umaru Fintiri announced an increase in their monthly allowance from ₦20,000 to ₦30,000.

The governor made the announcement on Friday during the swearing-in ceremony of the 2025 Batch B Stream I corps members at the NYSC Permanent Orientation Camp in Damare, Girei Local Government Area.

Fintiri emphasized his administration’s commitment to youth development, saying the raise is part of broader efforts to improve corps members’ welfare, including the provision of food and essential support packages.

“This increment aligns with our promise to create a friendly and supportive atmosphere for you,” the governor said.

He also revealed plans to construct a brand-new NYSC orientation camp in the state. In a move that promotes hands-on experience, he directed the NYSC State Coordinator to engage corps members with relevant skills—such as architects, engineers, and quantity surveyors—to help supervise the project.

Governor Fintiri praised corps members as vital partners in driving the government’s development goals, especially in the education sector. He encouraged them to be disciplined, contribute to community development, and foster peaceful coexistence throughout their service year.

The event also featured words of encouragement from key officials. Commissioner for Youths, Wali Yakubu, urged corps members to take the orientation programme seriously, obey camp rules, and take advantage of the skill acquisition training to build a future beyond NYSC.

NYSC State Coordinator, Caroline Osoro, applauded the corps members for their discipline and described Governor Fintiri as a visionary leader who champions youth empowerment in Nigeria.

The ceremony concluded with the oath of allegiance, administered by the Chief Judge of Adamawa State, Justice Hapsat Abdurrahman, and the symbolic presentation of the NYSC journal to the governor.

With this new pay rise and ongoing support, Adamawa State is positioning itself as one of the most youth-friendly states for NYSC service in Nigeria.

"This represents a significant development in our ongoing coverage of current events."
