FIFA U-20 WORLD CUP: MESSI HAILS ARGENTINA AFTER REACHING FINAL, PRAISES SILVETTI’S HEROICS
Argentina captain Lionel Messi has congratulated the country’s U-20 national team for qualifying for the final of the ongoing FIFA U-20 World Cup in Chile.
The young Albiceleste sealed their spot in the final after a 1-0 victory over Colombia in the semi-final, thanks to a second-half strike from Mateo Silvetti.
With the win, Argentina will now face Morocco in the final on Sunday, October 19, after the North Africans stunned France in the other semi-final clash.
Reacting to the victory, Messi took to his Instagram story to celebrate the team’s progress and applaud the match-winner.
“Let’s go to the finals! Congratulations to everyone! Great @toto.silvetti,” Messi wrote.
Argentina remains the most successful nation in FIFA U-20 World Cup history, having lifted the trophy six times. The team will now be aiming to secure a record-extending seventh title when they face Morocco in what promises to be a thrilling final.
