The FIFA U-17 Women’s World Cup in Morocco is heating up as Italy, Brazil, the Netherlands, and North Korea have become the first four teams to secure their spots in the quarter-finals.

The quartet advanced after Tuesday’s Round of 16 clashes produced some thrilling results and stunning upsets.

Italy pulled off one of the biggest shocks of the tournament by defeating Nigeria 4-0, ending the Flamingos’ campaign emphatically. Brazil also booked their place with a 3-0 win over China, showcasing their attacking flair and dominance.

In another fixture, North Korea proved too strong for host nation Morocco, cruising to a 6-1 victory, while the Netherlands edged out the United States on penalties after a tense 1-1 draw in regulation time.

More Round of 16 fixtures are scheduled for Wednesday, as the remaining teams battle for a place in the last eight.

The tournament, which kicked off on October 17, will conclude on November 8, 2025, with the world’s best young female footballers vying for global glory.
