Fidelity Bank is taking big steps to support small businesses in Nigeria by helping them go digital and grow faster.

At the Fidelity SME Empowerment Program 2025, held on Wednesday, July 23, at the bank’s SME Hub in Gbagada, Lagos, the bank launched a powerful initiative aimed at helping 100 small and medium-sized businesses (SMEs) streamline their operations with free digital tools.

Each selected business will receive a fully-installed desktop POS system, ERPRev business software, receipt printer, barcode scanner, inventory support, and six months of business mentoring—all at no cost. The package also includes branding support, financial training, and a free Fidelity POS machine with instant settlement.

Speaking at the event, Fidelity Bank’s CEO, Dr. Nneka Onyeali-Ikpe, represented by Mr. Stanley Amuchie, said the bank is deeply committed to helping SMEs succeed.

“SMEs are not just the backbone of the economy—they’re the drivers of innovation and inclusive growth,” she said. “We’re giving them tools and training to compete in today’s digital world.”

The three-day event includes masterclasses, high-impact training sessions, and networking opportunities to help entrepreneurs grow smarter and faster.

Mrs. Adaonah Kene-Uyawaune, CEO of Manmark and Fidelity’s partner in the project, said the program is a game-changer:

“These aren’t just gadgets—they’re long-term solutions. The system helps track inventory, manage staff, monitor sales, and keep clean financial records. It replaces outdated manual systems and prepares businesses for the future.”

According to the National Bureau of Statistics, SMEs make up 96% of businesses in Nigeria, employ over 80% of the workforce, and contribute nearly 50% to the country’s GDP. Yet, many still struggle with manual processes that limit growth and access to funding.

With this new initiative, Fidelity Bank is helping close that gap—boosting efficiency, transparency, and digital readiness among Nigerian SMEs. It’s a timely push toward a more modern and competitive small business sector.

"This represents a significant development in our ongoing coverage of current events."
