FG WARNS OF POSSIBLE OIL SUPPLY DISRUPTIONS AMID RED SEA TENSIONS
The Federal Government has raised concerns over potential disruptions to global oil supplies as tensions in the Red Sea continue to threaten key shipping routes used for energy transportation.
Officials said prolonged instability in the region could affect the movement of crude oil and petroleum products, creating uncertainty in global energy markets and potentially putting pressure on prices.
The Red Sea remains a major trade route connecting producers in the Middle East and other regions to international markets. Disruptions along the route could increase shipping costs, delay deliveries, and affect countries that rely heavily on imported petroleum products.
Energy analysts said Nigeria’s oil sector could feel the impact through changes in global crude prices, freight costs, and market volatility. They added that maintaining stable domestic fuel supply and strengthening local refining capacity would be important in managing external shocks.
The Federal Government said it is monitoring developments closely and working with relevant stakeholders to assess possible impacts on Nigeria’s energy security and economic stability.
