The Federal Government has launched a new committee to address the growing rejection of Nigeria’s agricultural exports in international markets.

Officials said the initiative is aimed at improving quality standards, strengthening compliance with global regulations, and restoring confidence in Nigerian produce abroad.

According to authorities, the panel will identify key causes of export rejection, including issues related to pesticide residues, packaging standards, and weak quality control systems.

They added that the committee will work with farmers, exporters, regulatory agencies, and international partners to align local agricultural practices with global market requirements.

The government noted that repeated rejection of exports has affected foreign exchange earnings and undermined the competitiveness of Nigerian agricultural products.

Stakeholders in the agricultural sector have welcomed the move, describing it as a step toward improving market access and boosting non-oil export revenue.

The panel is also expected to recommend long-term reforms that will strengthen food safety standards and enhance Nigeria’s reputation in global trade.

Officials reaffirmed their commitment to supporting farmers and exporters through better regulation, training, and infrastructure improvements.
