FG RESTRICTS STAFF MOVEMENT OVER FAKE AGENCY PROBE

The Federal Government has placed restrictions on the movement of staff across Ministries, Departments and Agencies as part of an investigation into the activities of alleged fake government agencies.

The directive is aimed at strengthening the ongoing probe and preventing unauthorised transfers or movements of personnel that could interfere with the investigation.

The government is examining the existence and activities of organisations presenting themselves as government agencies, with concerns over their operations and possible involvement of public officials.

Under the new directive, affected ministries, departments and agencies are expected to seek appropriate approval before moving personnel from one organisation to another.

The restriction is also expected to help investigators establish the identities, roles and employment status of individuals connected to the organisations under investigation.

The Federal Government has continued efforts to improve accountability within the public service and prevent the misuse of government institutions.

Officials said the probe would help identify agencies or organisations operating without proper government approval and determine whether public resources or personnel had been unlawfully deployed to them.

The government also urged public servants to comply with the directive and cooperate with investigators.

The investigation comes amid broader efforts to streamline government agencies and improve efficiency across the public service.
