FG MOBILISES STATES, PRIVATE SCHOOLS FOR NATIONAL DIGITAL EDUCATION DATABASE

The Federal Government has commenced efforts to mobilise state governments and private school operators to participate in a national digital education database aimed at improving data management, planning, and policy implementation in the education sector.

Officials said the initiative is designed to create a unified and reliable system for capturing information on schools, students, teachers, and learning infrastructure across the country.

According to the government, the digital database will help address long-standing challenges related to fragmented records, inaccurate statistics, and delays in education planning and resource allocation.

Education authorities noted that the platform will enhance transparency and support evidence-based decision-making in areas such as teacher deployment, school funding, and curriculum development.

They added that integrating both public and private institutions into the system is critical to achieving a comprehensive overview of Nigeria’s education landscape.

Stakeholders in the education sector have welcomed the move, describing it as a step toward modernising school administration and improving efficiency in policy execution.

However, some observers have called for strong data protection measures and proper training for school administrators to ensure smooth adoption and safeguard sensitive information.
