The Federal Government has inaugurated a high-level advisory committee to provide strategic guidance and technical support for the deepening of ongoing economic reforms under the Renewed Hope Agenda.

President Bola Tinubu performed the inauguration on Friday at the Presidential Villa, charging the committee members to bring their expertise to bear in addressing key challenges facing the Nigerian economy.

The committee, chaired by a renowned economist and former Central Bank Governor, is expected to review current reform initiatives, identify gaps, and recommend innovative solutions to accelerate economic growth, reduce inflation, and create jobs.

In his charge to the committee, President Tinubu emphasised the need for evidence-based recommendations and bold ideas that will transform the economy. “This committee is tasked with helping us deepen our reforms. Bring your best ideas and help us build a more prosperous Nigeria,” the President said.

Members of the committee include seasoned professionals from the private sector, academia, and development institutions. They are expected to submit periodic reports and work closely with relevant ministries and agencies to ensure the effective implementation of reform measures.

The Minister of Finance and Coordinating Minister of the Economy, Mr. Wale Edun, described the committee as a critical platform for harnessing intellectual capital to support government policies. He expressed confidence that the advisory body will contribute significantly to achieving the administration’s economic objectives.

Stakeholders have welcomed the move, noting that the involvement of independent experts will enhance the quality and credibility of economic policy decisions. The committee is expected to focus on critical areas such as fiscal sustainability, monetary policy coordination, investment promotion, and human capital development.

The inauguration of the advisory committee is seen as a demonstration of the Federal Government’s commitment to evidence-based policymaking and inclusive economic governance as it continues to implement far-reaching reforms.
