FG DISTRIBUTES 10M FERTILISER BAGS TO TWO MILLION FARMERS

The Federal Government has commenced the distribution of 10 million bags of fertiliser to two million farmers across Nigeria as part of efforts to boost agricultural productivity and food security.

The initiative, coordinated by the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development, aims to support smallholder farmers ahead of the planting season with subsidised high-quality fertilisers. Officials said the exercise is being carried out through registered farmer groups and state agricultural agencies to ensure transparency and reach the targeted beneficiaries.

Beneficiaries expressed appreciation for the timely intervention, noting that access to affordable inputs will help increase yields and reduce food prices. The government emphasised that the distribution is part of broader reforms to revitalise the agricultural sector, including improved seed varieties and extension services.

Stakeholders urged farmers to utilise the inputs effectively and adhere to best agronomic practices. The exercise is expected to significantly contribute to the country’s goal of achieving food self-sufficiency.
