FERDINAND TELLS MAN UNITED: FORGET SESKO, SIGN BALEBA INSTEAD

Manchester United legend Rio Ferdinand believes the club should focus on strengthening the midfield — not attack — as they plan for the new season.

Instead of chasing highly-rated striker Benjamin Sesko from RB Leipzig, Ferdinand says Brighton’s Carlos Baleba should be the top target.

Speaking on his show Rio Ferdinand Presents, the former United defender praised the Cameroonian midfielder, saying he fits exactly what the Red Devils need.

“Baleba is my guy,” Ferdinand said. “He’s got great physicality, can carry the ball, very good tactically, and has Premier League experience. I’d go and break the bank for him.”

Sesko has attracted attention after scoring 39 goals and providing eight assists for Leipzig, but Ferdinand insists that United’s biggest need is in central midfield, not upfront.

He also suggested that money raised from the possible sales of players like Jadon Sancho, Antony, and Alejandro Garnacho — all reportedly up for sale this summer — should be used to fund a move for Baleba.

The comments come as new coach Ruben Amorim shapes his squad, leaving some big names out of the club’s pre-season tour.

Ferdinand’s message is clear: if United want to compete seriously next season, Baleba is the man to lead the midfield revolution.

"This represents a significant development in our ongoing coverage of current events."
