FEDERER ENTERS TENNIS HALL OF FAME, CEMENTS LEGENDARY CAREER

Roger Federer has officially been inducted into the International Tennis Hall of Fame, adding another prestigious honour to the career of one of the greatest players in the history of the sport.

The Swiss tennis icon was honoured during a ceremony in Newport, Rhode Island, following a career that produced 20 Grand Slam singles titles, six Australian Open trophies, one French Open crown, eight Wimbledon championships and five US Open titles.

Federer, who retired from professional tennis in 2022, was recognised for his remarkable achievements on the court and his lasting influence on tennis around the world.

The former world No. 1 spent a record 310 weeks at the top of the ATP rankings, including 237 consecutive weeks, and finished as the year-end No. 1 on five occasions.

His induction places him among an elite group of tennis legends whose contributions to the sport have been formally recognised by the International Tennis Hall of Fame.

Federer’s career was defined not only by his extraordinary record but also by his elegant style of play, exceptional movement and ability to compete at the highest level for more than two decades.

His greatest period of success came at Wimbledon, where he won eight men's singles titles. He also became one of the most successful players in Grand Slam history, developing iconic rivalries with Rafael Nadal and Novak Djokovic.

Federer’s rivalry with Nadal produced some of the most memorable matches in tennis history, including their epic 2008 Wimbledon final, widely regarded as one of the greatest matches ever played.

Beyond his individual achievements, Federer was also a member of Switzerland's Davis Cup-winning team in 2014 and won an Olympic doubles gold medal alongside Stan Wawrinka at the 2008 Beijing Games.

The Hall of Fame recognition comes as another milestone in a career that has already earned Federer numerous honours and widespread admiration from fans and fellow athletes.

Since retiring, Federer has remained active in tennis-related initiatives and charitable work through the Roger Federer Foundation, which supports educational opportunities for children in Africa and Switzerland.
