The Federal Government has raised an alert over a fraudulent recruitment letter circulating on social media platforms, advising Nigerians—particularly job seekers—to remain vigilant and avoid falling prey to scammers.

In a statement issued on Tuesday, the Secretary of the Civil Defence, Correctional, Fire and Immigration Services Board (CDCFIB), AM Jibril, clarified that although the President has approved the recruitment of personnel into the four paramilitary agencies under the Board, the recruitment process has not yet officially begun.

The Board emphasized that any legitimate recruitment notice will be published in national newspapers and on other credible platforms. It also stressed that no payments are required at any point during the recruitment.

Part of the statement read:

“The attention of the Civil Defence, Correctional, Fire and Immigration Services Board has been drawn to a recruitment letter currently circulating on social media.

“While there is indeed Presidential approval for new intakes into the four paramilitary services overseen by the Board, the official recruitment process is yet to commence and involves several procedural steps.

“The public is advised that all genuine announcements will be made through advertisements in national dailies, and the process will be conducted in a fair, transparent manner—without any charges or fees.”

The public is urged to disregard the circulating fake letter and remain cautious of fraudsters posing as recruitment agents to exploit unsuspecting individuals.

“Job seekers should be wary of scammers aiming to deceive them and extort their hard-earned money,” the Board warned.

"This represents a significant development in our ongoing coverage of current events."
